WP 5 – Validation of the indicator system

Description

The development of real values for the validation and calculation of the indicator system on the basis of available data sources is of great importance for the project, both conceptually and in terms of application, as the indicator system can only be used in practice in a fully automated way with an implementable system of values. For the application of the indicator system, the value variables must be operationalised and available data sources must be identified with which the circumstances can be described and an evaluation of the degrees of fulfilment can be carried out on a region-specific basis. On the one hand, the values must fulfil general quality requirements, such as acceptance, objectivity, comprehensibility, etc., and on the other hand, they must be available within the framework of existing data sets. For this purpose, existing data sets are analysed and extensive preliminary work by the participating universities and municipalities as well as scientific studies are used.

Results

Of particular importance is the cooperation with HERE Technologies, the leading international data provider for mobility data, which provides access to a high-quality database that is also internationally available and thus comparable. For the operationalisation of the indicators, a variety of different data sources such as public transport timetable data, transport infrastructure, POIs, traffic data, travel times, traffic models, noise and pollution levels as well as accident data and population and registration statistics are processed.

KINaMo (Municipal Information System for Sustainable Mobility) is being implemented for 30 test municipalities in the region. The results are discussed in workshops and evaluated against existing data.
